What exactly is BeepSweep?
BeepSweep catches your missed calls and turns them into text. You get the message back as a transcript with a short summary and a draft reply you can send straight away. So you never miss a customer, even when you can't pick up.
What's the difference with my provider's regular voicemail?
Regular voicemail gives you an audio message you have to listen to. BeepSweep turns it into text, summarises it, pulls out the key points (dates, amounts, what the caller wants) and drafts a reply for you. And it lands in WhatsApp, not in a separate voicemail inbox.
Who is BeepSweep for?
For anyone who gets a lot of calls and doesn't want to miss one. Especially handy for freelancers and small businesses, where every missed call can be a missed customer.
Why would I use this?
Because you can't always pick up, but you do want to know who called and why — without listening to voicemails or calling back without context. You see at a glance what's going on and can respond right away.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your own number. You only set unanswered calls to be forwarded to BeepSweep. Your number stays the same everywhere.
How do I set it up?
You dial a short code once on your phone that sets up the forwarding. That takes about two minutes. After that, calls you don't pick up go to BeepSweep automatically.
Does it work with my provider and my phone?
It works via standard forwarding at the network level, so with most providers and phones. Right now the service is active in the Netherlands.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. BeepSweep is a web app you can install on your home screen on both iPhone and Android. No separate app from the App Store or Play Store is needed.
Can I turn it on and off?
Yes. You turn the forwarding on or off yourself whenever you want.
What exactly goes to BeepSweep?
Only calls you don't pick up, or when you're on another call or unreachable. Calls you simply answer yourself never go past BeepSweep.
What do I get per missed call?
A transcript of the message, a summary in a few sentences, and a draft reply you can send. Plus the key points: what the caller wants, mentioned dates, amounts and numbers. And you can always listen back to the original message.
How fast do I get the message?
Usually within five to fifteen seconds after the caller hangs up.
Where do I get the message?
Wherever you want: via a notification in the app, via WhatsApp, via SMS or by email. You set which channels you use yourself.
Does BeepSweep send replies on my behalf?
No. BeepSweep drafts the reply, but you tap send yourself. That way you always stay in control of what goes out in your name.
What does the AI receptionist do?
Sweep answers the call itself when you can't. It asks for the caller's name and reason, then sends you a clear briefing. This is a separate option you switch on yourself.
Does the receptionist sound like a robot?
Sweep is built to sound natural, with voices chosen per language to come across as pleasant and human. You can also set the tone, from businesslike to warm.
Does the caller notice it's AI?
Yes, and that's on purpose. Sweep always says at the start of every call that it's an AI assistant. That's honest to the caller and in line with European AI regulation.
Can the AI receptionist book an appointment?
Yes, if you connect your Outlook calendar. Sweep then offers the caller free slots and books the appointment.
Can I set what the receptionist says?
Yes. You can adjust the greeting, the tone and the name, and provide your own FAQ text that Sweep can use to answer callers' questions.
How well does it understand speech?
The transcription is tuned per language and specifically set up for each one, including filters to render noise and slips of the tongue neatly.
Which languages does it work in?
In six languages: Dutch, English, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese. That applies to the app and to the AI receptionist.
Where is my data stored?
In the Netherlands. The app and database run in Amsterdam, and your voicemails are stored encrypted with AES-256.
How long do you keep my messages?
Thirty days. After that, your voicemails are deleted automatically. You can also delete messages or your entire account yourself at any time.
Who can read my messages?
No one by default. Your messages are encrypted. There's no team listening in and no quality sampling. For technical maintenance there is limited access, described in the privacy statement.
Are my calls used to train AI?
No. There's no training on your data. That's contractually fixed with the services we use.
Does my data go to the US?
Storage and hosting are in Amsterdam. For speech-to-text and the AI receptionist we use specialised services that partly run in the US, under European processing agreements (SCCs and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Details are in the privacy statement.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No. No selling of data, no ads, no trackers and no profiling. That's a deliberate choice.
Is it GDPR-compliant?
Yes. You can view, export, correct and delete your data. Callers can exercise their rights too. The full privacy statement is at beepsweep.app/privacy.
What does BeepSweep cost?
During the beta everything is free. The intended prices afterwards: a free basic version with standard voicemail, plus two add-ons of about 2.50 euro per month each — one for your own voicemail (AI or self-recorded) and one for the AI receptionist. For business needs we look at custom plans. These are indicative prices, not yet final.
Do I have to pay now?
No, you don't. During the beta you use BeepSweep for free. Leave your email and you'll hear from us as soon as the final plans are ready.
Which apps does BeepSweep work with?
Messages can automatically land as a task in Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks or Todoist. There's also a webhook for your own integrations and a calendar feed you can subscribe to in your calendar.
Can I let my own AI read along?
Yes. Via an open connection you can let your voicemails and tasks be read by your own AI tools, such as Claude or a ChatGPT GPT.
What if BeepSweep goes down for a bit?
BeepSweep is in beta, so we aim for high availability but don't give a hard guarantee yet. Your calls keep coming in on your own number as usual.
What happens with spam and sales calls?
They come in as a message like any other call, with a summary, so you can see at a glance whether it's worth your time.
Do I get a notification for every message?
Yes, via the channels you've set up.
